On the morning of November 23, 2025 in Emmett, Idaho, Gary Lee Houtz entered into eternal life. Gary was born in Emmett, Idaho on August 20, 1952 to Phyllis Hezeltine and Reginald Houtz. Gary graduated from Emmett High School and attended the University of Idaho.
Gary married Colleen Colvin in 1977 and to this union Sarah and Adam were born. They later divorced.
In 2010, he married Christina Leigh Lockie and to this union six children were adopted: Brahm, Cade, Sway, Abellah, Michael, and Gracie.
Gary was preceded in death by his wife, Christina, in 2023; his parents, Phyllis and Reginald Houtz; brother, Clinton Houtz, and sister, Carole Sullivan.
Gary is survived by his children, Sarah and Adam; adopted children, Brahm, Cade, Sway, Abellah, Michael and Elizabeth Grace; Christina’s children, Brock Opfer, Jesse Opfer, and Bryceson Opfer; granddaughter (Sarah's daughter), Chayce Miller; great-grandchildren (Chayce's children), Maddex and Piper Alexander. Gary is also survived by his sisters, Sharon (Dave) Church-Pratt, Karen (Bob) Fraley, and Suzan (Bruce) Houtz-Belzer; brother-in-law, Michael "Mike" Sullivan; brother-in-heart, Steven (Gaye) Colvin, and numerous nieces and nephews.
A Celebration of Life will be held Friday, December 19, 2025 at 2:00 PM at the Emmett Methodist Church, 1500 E Locust St., Emmett, ID.
