Fredrick Prosser Obituary

Fredrick Lee Prosser, passed away peacefully at the age of 86, on February 22, 2025, at home, of natural causes, surrounded by his loving family and friends.
Fred was born on June 20, 1938, to his parents, John and Illa Belle Prosser, in Santa Rosa, California. He spent most of his childhood years in Placerville, California, where he grew up and attended school. He was later joined by a sister, Carol Ann Prosser Barnes on February 16, 1945.
He met the love of his life, Donna G. Zimmerman, and they were married December 7th, 1956, in Santa Rosa, California.
Throughout his life, family was his main focus. Fred and Donna had their first child, Micheal Lee Prosser on February 2, 1958. Their second child, Terrie Lynn Prosser, was born August 17th, 1959, and a third child, Randall Scott Prosser, October 31, 1965.
Fred's life was full of adventures. Being married to Donna, he never knew what to expect. In his younger years, he sheared sheep for a living, which took him away from home for days at a time. One spring day, he came home, and to his surprise, Donna had adopted two more children, David and Holly and later a third girl Wendy, whom all became Prosser's. He never looked back, no questions asked, he just loved them.
Fred and his family moved from California to Glide, Oregon in 1969, where he went to work for Boyers Meats as a butcher, but soon moved up the line to become a state meat inspector, working there for several years. During this time Fred's wife, Donna, got bored and decided to buy some wiener pigs for something to do, as a stay-at-home Mom. This little project turned into a full- fledged business. Fred then quit his job, and we, as a family went to raising pigs for a living. No matter, work or play, it was always fun!
The family moved to Terrebonne, Oregon in 1976, where Fred and Donna purchased Cinder Butte Meat Packing Plant. This was another family adventure, always including grandparents in everything they did.
They then moved to Emmett, Idaho in 1985, where between ranching and caring for disabled adults in their home, they retired, just months before his passing.
Fred had a love for the outdoors, so he spent most of his spare time hunting, camping and riding horseback, as much as the law would allow. It was always exciting when we had the privilege of riding with him. He liked to scout new trails, which sometimes got a little western. He always had to see what was on the other side of the next hill, no matter what the trail or lack of trail looked like.
Fred's dogs were second nature to him. He always had at least one stock-dog. He swore that if you had livestock, you couldn't be without a dog. The two went hand in hand. The last few years, he was always joking that he was the best lap dog trainer around. He left behind two very well-trained lap dogs, Ring and Peg. Dotty, though she was never trained for lapping was another of the dogs he left behind.
This man will be greatly missed by everyone who knew him!
