Eva Mae (Robison) Stevenson, 89, died peacefully on Saturday, October 5, 2024.
Eva was born to Charles Albert Robison and Susan Hale Robison on December 13, 1934, in Letha, Idaho. She was the 13th child. She grew up on the family farm in Letha, moving to Emmett after her father passed away. As a teenager, she worked with her mom at Scott’s Drive-in. She met Robert Don Stevenson in high school and they married on September 24, 1953, when Eva was 18. They lived briefly in Lime, Oregon while Don worked for the cement company. They moved back to Emmett and lived and worked on the Stevenson family farm until Don started working for Boise Cascade Lumber Yard. Eva couldn’t wait to be a mom, and Susan Colleen was born on August 15, 1955 and Robert Earl was born May 24, 1957. The family purchased their first home on 2nd Street. Eva was a wonderful wife and mother who always put her family first. They built a new house on Airport Rd. and moved in on New Year’s Day, 1970. After the kids were grown and out of the house, Eva felt herself at loose ends and went to work for the Emmett School District as a baker. She loved serving all the little kids at Butte View.
After retirement, they spent time with family and the occasional trips to Jackpot or Reno. Eva loved playing the penny slots! Don passed away in May, 2001, but Eva continued to be active with friends, traveling with her niece, Frieda Deen, helping to tie quilts for donation, and participating in the garden club. Eva spent many hours weeding and caring for plants on the Island. She was honored by a plaque with her name engraved on it and placed on a bench at the Island. She also loved being a judge for the plant division at the fair.
As her health declined a bit, Eva moved to Yuma to be with Robert and Deanna in January, 2017. They cared for her for five years, but she hated “being a burden on her family” (her words) so she moved into an assisted living facility where she made a whole new crop of friends.
Eva is survived by her children, Colleen (Gary) Fitzmorris and Robert (Deanna) Stevenson, grandchildren Will Fitzmorris, Jamie (Ben) Clark, and Jennifer (Chuck) Dee, and great grandchildren Hudson, Addison and Millie Clark, and Corbin, Penelope, and Delilah Dee.
A gravesite memorial service will be held on Monday, October 28, 2024, at 11:00 a.m. under the direction of Potter Funeral Chapel, with Pastor Brian Smith of Crouch Community Church officiating.
