Eula Blaylock Obituary

Eula Mae Blaylock, 93, of Emmett, went to be with the Lord on October 21, 2024.   Mae was born November 8, 1930, in Wendell, Idaho to Meeks and Pearl Bernard. She was 7th of 11 brothers and sisters. Except for 2 years in Wendell and one year in Boise, Mae lived over 90 years in Emmett. She graduated from Emmett High School in May 1948. Mae married Joe Blaylock on May 8, 1949, in Winnemucca, Nevada. To this union was born Gary (1950), Jim (1953) and Kristi (1958).

Family was very important. She always encouraged her children to do their best in school, work hard and save for college. Mae especially enjoyed her grandchildren and had a special place in her heart for them. This summer she was able to have 5 generation pictures taken with both great-great grandsons.
Mae was active in the Emmett Baptist Church and taught Sunday School for the preschool children for over 30 years. She helped with vacation bible school every year, served on the Christian Education Board, and was on the Deaconess Board. Mae and Gary were baptized together in the Emmett Baptist Church. She had many dear lifelong friends at the Emmett church. She was one of the oldest members of the Baptist Church at her death.

She had 35 nieces and nephews that she always inquired about and kept up on their lives. The Bernard family had numerous reunions, and they were loud, fun-loving events.

After Joe retired in 1982, Mae had a day care in her house. She nurtured many children of relatives and friends through the years. She had fond memories of all the children. She kept in touch with many of them following their journeys through life.
Mae had a lot of great memories at the Emmett Senior Center where she made a lot of special friends. In her later years she enjoyed going to the Senior Center on Wednesdays for chicken lunch and to play dominoes.

Special thanks to the staff at Meadow View Retirement Center and Horizon Hospice for taking care of mom in her last days.
Mae is survived by sons Gary (Vickie) Blaylock of Boise, Idaho and Jim (Linda) Blaylock of McCammon, Idaho, son in law Gary Foster of Portland,  Oregon, sister Sharon (Mike) Eisenbeiss of Boise, Idaho, grandchildren Trisha ( Jason) Combes of West Jordan, Utah, Staci (Triston) Fowler of Pocatello, Idaho, Nick Blaylock of Nampa, Idaho, Crystal (Rory) Lambert of Meridian Idaho, Andrew Foster of Lebanon, Oregon and Brandon Foster of Lebanon, Oregon, 7 great grandchildren and 2 great-great grandchildren.
Mae was preceded in death by husband Joe Blaylock; daughter Kristi Foster; her parents; brothers Ervin Bernard, Ivan Bernard, Alvin Bernard, Calvin Bernard, and Bill Bernard; and sisters, Fern Butler, Faye Kimball, Rae Hill, and Gayle Christensen.
