Elva Ruth Niccolls Simpson passed away on December 20, 2020 with her family by her side. There is great comfort knowing she is now with her Lord and Savior and singing in the Heavenly Choir. A viewing will be held on Wednesday at the Potter Funeral Chapel in Emmett from 3:30 until 7:00 pm. A private family service will be held Thursday and it can be viewed at potterchapel.com on Elva's obituary page, Thursday at 2:00 pm.
Elva was born in her grandparents’ home on Wills Road on April 23, 1933 to Hugh and Anna (Wills) Stipp in Emmett, Idaho. She attended school there and had such fond memories of her growing up years. Going to church at the Bible Hall and family gatherings at the Wills house were very important to her. She had many friends and she stayed in contact with most of them over the years. Elva loved people and was loved in return; she never knew a stranger.
Elva married George Niccolls in Reno, Nevada on July 9, 1950 and they made their home in Emmett; a daughter, Loree, was born in 1952 and a son, Randy, was born in 1955. They enjoyed raising their children on 5th Street and all the neighborhood kids were loved like their own. George worked for Bork Motor and Elva worked various places until she went to nursing school and graduated as an LPN. She loved being a nurse and caring for others while working in doctor’s offices, hospitals and nursing homes. Elva had a beautiful voice and sang in choirs, at church, and for weddings and funerals. George passed away in 1995; they had been married 45 years. After being widowed, Elva married Verden (Corky) Simpson in 1998. They enjoyed their life together with extended family, camping, traveling and attending New Life Christian Center. Elva especially loved her family and getting together with them was her favorite thing to do. Her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren were simply “the best” in her eyes.
After Corky passed away, Elva moved to Meadow View Senior Living in Emmett. She made many friends there and always said how good everyone was to her. She especially loved being part of the Meadowlarks singing group, more singing with Anjanette as she had her hair done every Wednesday and all the fun activities Tanya planned for them to do.
Elva is survived by her daughter Loree (Randy) Hill of Meridian; son Randy Niccolls of Emmett; grandson Chad (Aimee) Hill and children Jack & Ivy of Boise; granddaughter Keri (Stephen) White and children Ethan, Mackenzie and Caleb of Soldotna, Alaska; sister Elaine (Hank) Hansen of Tempe, Arizona, sister-in-law Barbara Stipp of Emmett; Corky’s family - Mike Simpson and his children; Katrina (Kelly) and son Matthew York; and many nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her parents; sister Avril Yates; brothers Darwin, Larry, Marion & Montie Stipp; and nephew Tom Stipp.
A special thank you to all those at Meadow View and Signature Hospice who so lovingly cared for Elva.
