Elizabeth Yates Obituary

Elizabeth (Betty) Yates, 81, of Emmett, Idaho died Saturday, December 26, 2020.  She left behind a legacy of love for her family and a life centered around faith and service.

Elizabeth (Betty) was born on April 10th, 1939 in Placerville, California to Anthony and Mary Ashford.  She spent her childhood riding her horse and attended school in Camino, California. She spoke fondly of riding horseback in the Pony Express Parade from Lake Tahoe to Placerville as a teenager.  She graduated from El Dorado High School in Placerville in 1957.

On July 11, 1958, she married Charles Yates Jr. She was his biggest fan at the race track racing sprint cars, or helping him mechanic on his logging truck.  They raised a son and a daughter together, and invited many others into their home throughout the years. Her home was always a welcome place for any visitor.  In 1990, Betty and Charles moved to Emmett, Idaho to be near their grandchildren.

Betty had many talents and hobbies including gardening, sewing, and crafts.  She could problem-solve and fix just about anything.  She was a true example of service and love.  She volunteered countless hours at her church and participated in the Legion of Mary.

She is preceded in death by her husband, Charles G. Yates, and her parents, Anthony and Mary Ashford.   She is survived by her son, Charles Yates of Emmett, Idaho; daughter and and son-in-law, Mary and Steve Posten of Emmett, Idaho; five grandchildren,  Becky (Matt) Brown, Carmen (Jeff) Betzold, Leanne (Mike) Buck, Gary (Taylor) Posten, and Marianne (Tyler) Corn along with seven great-grandchildren.
