Elaine Ann Madsen Palmer, born April 5, 1941 in Bell, CA, to Anna Lorene Young and Paul O.. Madsen. Elaine is the fourth of eight children, with three older brothers, Don (Donna) both deceased, Jim (Marilyn, deceased) and Larry (Fay,) deceased; two younger brothers, Glen (Skip)(Jan) and Gary, deceased; and two younger sisters, Lila (Michael Cramer) and Peggy (Mike Lally.) She graduated from Oroville High School, in Oroville, CA in 1959, and worked as a hairdresser prior to serving in the Florida mission in 1962 for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.
In 1965, she married Richard R. Hapsburg and they had a son Robert (Rob)Georgia). In 1968 she married Lawson L. Lipscomb II, and they had children Stephen (Chip)(Julie), Chad (Debbie) and Victoria (Vickie)(Joe Allen). In 1974 she married James (Jim)T. Palmer Jr., who would become her eternal companion in 1996. His children, Ted (Ann), Carolyn, Janice, Donna (deceased), David, and Margaret (Dwayne Davies) completed their blended family. Jim and Elaine would go on to be blessed with a very large extended family, with 39 grandchildren, 67 great-grandchildren and, so far, 20 great-great grandchildren.
Elaine had always dreamt of becoming a registered nurse, and in 1986 graduated from Weber State College, in Ogden, UT. She spent her career working with mothers with new babies at St. Benedict's Hospital, which would later become Ogden Regional Medical Center, also in Ogden, UT.
Elaine was a dedicated follower of her Savior, Jesus Christ, and she loved and served her Heavenly Father in various callings and capacities. She was quick to help her family, friends and neighbors in need, and especially cared for the widows and widowers.
In the fall of her life, when Jim had left this earth, Elaine served in the Dallas/Mesquite Mission, and returned to live in Idaho to be close to her sisters. In 2020, she married Daniel McArthur, who preceded her in death. In the winter of her life, although she suffered from dementia, Elaine never forgot her loved ones and we will never forget her. On July 16, 2024, Elaine passed peacefully into eternity. Arrangements were under the care of the Potter Funeral Chapel in Emmett, Idaho.
A graveside service will be held at the Bear River City cemetery located at 5550 N. 4600 W. on Saturday. August 31, 2024 at 1:00 PM. Everyone is welcome.
