Eila Rice Obituary

Eila Marcella Rice, two years old, born to Jedidiah and Whitney Rice on September 11, 2020, in Boise, ID, passed away in Emmett, Idaho, on September 13, in a tragic accident.

Eila was an incredible joy to her parents and so many others. Cherished by all who knew her for her sweet personality, contagious smile, and kind heart. She was affectionate, funny, witty, full of surprises, and a true character to be around. Hugs, snuggles and crawling in mom and daddy’s lap was a constant. A country girl that loved her dresses, shoes, flowers, and girly things, while playing in the dirt, smashing bugs, and collecting rocks. She had grown to love showing hospitality to visitors, caring for babies, loving on animals, and reading books. Her first three word phrase was “read the Bible.”  Eila wanted to be and was closely involved with helping her parents through all daily activities. She spent hours with her mom in the garden, picking samples off plants to taste, as well as with her dad in the saddle shop, working with leather and playing with rein chains. She was fond of tools and discovering their uses. Threading lids, nuts and bolt, or solving latches.

Eila begged to be outside and loved so many outdoors activities at their home in Emmett including: splashing in cow water tanks, playing with rocks, using the hose, helping milk the cow, riding horses, doing ranch chores on atvs, picking wild blackberries, going for bike rides, swinging in the park, and helping with the construction of their home. She enjoyed showing off her drawings on every inch of the framing boards within her reach. In the saddle shop, she often practiced doodling “circles” and “scrolls” as she would call them on scrap leather. Eila was incredibly smart and attentive always looking to learn or lend a hand while imitating what mom and dad were doing. She loved surprising her parents with newly acquired skills and vocabulary. She especially loved learning new names saying them in her own melodies.  Eila was always helping fetch tools, pick up screws, put things away, or taking something to the trash. She wanted their dog Peppin present with the family no matter where they went. Her favorite toys were her baby dolls, little horses, bike, and puppy named Emily. Eila’s smile, expressions, sayings, and funny gestures will be treasured forever.
