Duayne L. Flower

  Duayne Leander Flower, age 85, passed away peacefully in his sleep on Sunday, June 9th, 2024.
Duayne was born to Lawrence and Violet Flower on September 28th, 1938. He was the youngest of 13 children. 
 Duayne joined the Navy in 1955. While in the Navy, Duayne served on the USS Howard Gilmore and the USS McKean as a Navy Diver. He was tasked with doing underwater welding on nuclear submarines. After devoting 20 years of service to the Navy, he retired as a Hull Maintenance Technician First Class Petty Officer, HT1. Duayne had many fond memories of being on Navy ships and would often reminisce and share his memories with family and friends.
 After retiring from the Navy, Duayne became a welding instructor at Nampa High School for 25 years before his final retirement. Duayne loved teaching his students and became a mentor to many.
Duayne married the love of his life, Betty Joyce Flower on May 25th, 1955. They shared 64 years of blissful marriage together before she passed away in 2019. Together they had four beautiful children, Doug, Marty, Jeff, and Christy. 
 Duayne enjoyed camping, boating, fishing, wood working, and welding. He enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren and his great grandchildren. They were the apple of his eye.
  Duayne is survived by his daughter, Christy Flower (Amber Kenneda); son Marty Flower; daughter in law Renee (Jeffrey) Flower, daughter in law Janis (Douglas) Flower. He is also survived by his grandchildren Garrett, Tyler, Jared (Meg), Jason, MaKenzie, and Kyle and great grandchildren Leilani, Ainslee, and Kade. 
  Duayne is proceeded in death by his wife Betty Joyce Flower, son Douglas Flowers, son Jeffrey Flower, grandson Cory Flowers, and grandson Jacob Flower. 
Duayne was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, brother, and a friend to many! He was loved dearly and will be greatly missed.
 A viewing will be held Friday, June 14, 2024 from 6:00 to 8:00 PM at the Potter Funeral Chapel for family and friends.  Funeral services will be held on June 15, 2024 at 11:00 AM at the Potter Funeral Chapel in Emmett, ID.   Burial will follow at the Emmett Cemetery.
