Obituary

Doriene Morton 80, passed away on July 24, 2026 in Emmett, Idaho after a 6-week battle with pancreatic cancer.

Doriene was born on October 23, 1945 in Colfax, Washington to Dorcas and Chancie Imler. Doriene spent her younger years on a farm outside Potlatch, Idaho with her siblings Mildred Krasselt, Clifford Imler and Grace Engelhard. The family moved to Palouse, Washington in 1954. Doriene graduated from Palouse High School in 1964 and continued her education at Washington State and Eastern Washington universities. Doriene married in 1966 and became the loving mother to Shelly, Pam and Dan.

On April 2, 1977 Doriene married John Morton. Becky then became Doriene’s fourth child and the family was complete. The Morton family moved around some in the 80’s from Oregon to Montana and back to Oregon where all the kids graduated high school and left for college. Doriene then revisited her own education and graduated from nursing school in 1995 fulfilling her lifelong dream. She pursued a career in geriatric care and spent the next 20 years taking care of other people's families. She continued to be a loving friend and caretaker even after retirement and the move to Emmett, Idaho in 2019. Doriene was dedicated to living for Jesus and showing his love to others.  She was active in children's ministry as well as Bible study groups.  She was always preparing meals for anyone in need and was a wonderful cook. She enjoyed gardening and could make any flower or plant flourish. She enjoyed her many travels with John over the years.

She loved her family fiercely and will always be missed and loved by her surviving family, John Morton, Shelly Schwers, Pam Watson (Jared), Daniel Hanson, Becky Durant (Erick), 9 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren.
