Donovan Robert Holford, passed away peacefully on March 16, 2025, in Caldwell, Idaho, at the age of 88.
Born in Ola, Idaho, to Donovan and Eleanor Holford, Donovan carried a deep-rooted love for his home state throughout his life. He proudly served his country in the U.S. Air Force from 1957 to 1963, instilling in him a lifelong sense of duty, discipline, and service.
Following his military service, Donovan dedicated his career to helping others. As a program director for Western Idaho Community Action, he worked to support elderly and disabled individuals in Gem, Boise, and Valley Counties. It was through this work that he met Sharon Pulley—the love of his life. They married on November 18, 1977, and Donovan often said his life truly began the day he met Sharon. Their love was unwavering, and together, they built a home filled with laughter, love, and a deep commitment to family.
Donovan and Sharon raised their four children and, over the years, opened their hearts and home to five others. A devoted husband and father, Donovan never missed a game, recital, or school event, always cheering the loudest and offering unwavering support. Whether it was helping with a school project, coaching from the sidelines, or simply being a shoulder to lean on, he was there—present, engaged, and full of love.
His faith played a central role in his life. As an active member of the First Presbyterian Church, Donovan took on many roles, always eager to serve his congregation and community. He embodied the spirit of generosity and kindness, never too busy to lend a hand. Whether fixing a sink, mending a fence, or offering words of encouragement, he was a true handyman at heart—both in skill and in spirit.
A pillar of strength for his family, friends, and neighbors, Donovan’s legacy is one of unwavering devotion, quiet acts of kindness, and a life well-lived in service to others.
He is survived by his children: Cindy Holford, Bryan (Candy) Holford, Melissa (Chad) Knee, and Kimberley (Eric) Argo; his grandchildren: Dallas (Christina) Henry, Falyn (Taber) Henry-Johnson, Devon Holford, Paxton Knee, Anniston Knee, and Madelyn Henry; and countless others who were touched by his kindness and generosity.
Though he is no longer physically with us, his spirit remains ever-present in the lives of those he loved. His gentle soul, warm smile, and compassionate heart will be deeply missed but never forgotten.
