Donna Church, 89, passed away March 15, 2024, at the Meadow View Assisted Living and Memory Care, Emmett, ID, where she has resided the last 3 years.
She was born November 18, 1934, in Holyoke, CO, to Paul and Rowena Bright. Donna was the 5th of 8 children. She married Bob Church August 18, 1953, in Winnemucca Nevada and lived in Gem County for the last 64 years. Her husband Bob passed away May 4, 1999.
After moving to Emmett in 1960, she worked at the Safeway grocery store as head checker until the Emmett store closed. In 1965, she was named Homemaker of the Year by the Pins and Diaper Club in the Hanna School area. She was co-owner of D&D Beauty Salon with her sister Dorothy, and then co-owner of a fabric store with her friend Opal Jonely and Dorothy Pearce. She also worked as the manager at the local Circle K.
Donna occasionally worked in the local packing sheds and enjoyed grafting fruit trees. She worked for the school district in food services as a baker. She was a bookkeeper at Noland Drug Store, then later at Coast-to-Coast hardware. Bob and Donna worked as campground hosts at Stanley Lake, ID, and eventually became area managers for all the campgrounds in the Stanley basin. Maybe her favorite job of all was as the baker for her daughter Carol's first restaurant in Emmett, Cold Mountain Creek (now Elements).
She is preceded in death by her husband, Bob; her parents; 3 brothers; and 2 sisters.
Donna is survived by her son, Bob (Bev); daughter, Carol (Andy); 10 grandchildren;14 great grandchildren; and 6 great- great grandchildren.
A Memorial Service will be held 12:00 PM on Saturday, March 23, 2024, at the Potter Funeral Chapel, Emmett, ID. Inurnment will be private.
