Lela Diane Dozier Chesrow, known affectionately as Diane, passed away peacefully surrounded by her husband and daughter on Sunday, September 1, 2024, at the age of 83. Diane's passing comes after a courageous seven-year battle with Alzheimer’s disease. She is now at rest.
Born in Paul, Idaho, on February 1, 1941, Diane was the beloved second child of Lester and Zella Dozier. Her early years were spent in Mill Scholls, Illinois before the family moved to Idaho, where Diane graduated from Minidoka County High School in 1958. She went on to earn a B.S. in Nutrition from Idaho State College (ISU) in 1962.
Diane's dedication to service was evident through her time in the U.S. Army, where she served from 1962 to 1964, starting with the Women's Reserves Unit of ROTC and completing a dietetic internship at Fort Sam Houston, Texas. She was honorably discharged as a First Lieutenant.
In 1962, Diane married her first husband, and they were together for 13 years. They raised three children - Phil, Lori, and Robert, in the Pocatello and Inkom areas.
Diane dedicated 23 years of her career to ARAMARK as a Food Services Director at Bannock Memorial Hospital in Pocatello before taking on the role of WIC Director at the Southeast District Health Department in Pocatello for 17 years.
Diane found love again when she married Bud Chesrow on August 24, 1985. They enjoyed many years in Inkom, delighting in hiking and biking and road trips together. In 2010, they moved to Emmett, Idaho, to be closer to their grandchildren.
A woman of warmth and kindness, Diane had a deep love for sewing, collecting recipes, and most importantly, her faith in the Lord Jesus Christ. She was a cherished member of Grace Baptist Church.
Diane was preceded in death by her parents Lester and Zella; her sister Sandra Arbogast; her brother Don Dozier; and her niece Becky Green.
Diane is survived by her loving husband, Bud Chesrow of Emmett, Idaho; her children Phil Simison, Lori Simison Pottratz (Tim), and Robert Simison (Jenny); her stepchildren Tony Chesrow and Roni Chesrow Yeates; her eight grandchildren, four step-grandchildren, one great-grandchild, and five step-great-grandchildren. She is also survived by her brother Cecil Dozier of Hansen, Idaho.
A Viewing will be held at the Potter Funeral Chapel on Wednesday, September 18, 2024, from 5:00 pm to 8:00 pm.
A Celebration of Diane’s life will take place on Thursday, September 19, 2024, at 2:00 pm at the Grace Baptist Church, 861 Longview Drive, Emmett, Idaho.
