Delores Elaine Bryant Lewis “Dodie”, 78, passed away unexpectedly Thursday, June 13, 2024, at her Emmett, ID, home with her husband by her side. Dodie was born on July 8, 1945, in Monroe, Louisiana, to James Oliver Bryant and Ruby Irene Adkins Bryant Ball. As a child Dodie moved to several places and touched everyone’s life that she crossed. She attended Lynch grade school and graduated from Centennial High School in Gresham, OR, in 1963.
After graduating high school, Dodie completed beauty school, before settling down with her high school sweetheart and love of her life, Kenneth Dean Lewis on August 8, 1964. They were blessed with four children, Kim, Kelli, Kenny, and Kathy.
Dodie devoted her life to raising her children and kept herself busy with a myriad of jobs that helped her family thrive. When her children grew, she took on the role of family archivist, through scrapbooking, journaling, and storytelling, which she continued throughout her life.
In addition to caring for her family, Dodie’s sweet and spicy personality affected everyone she came across. She took pride in creating beauty in her life and in the lives of her loved ones through her hobbies such as gardening and collecting. She enjoyed decorating and is responsible for instilling and spreading the Christmas magic that we celebrate with our family each year.
Dodie is preceded in death by her father, James Oliver Bryant; her mother, Ruby Irene Adkins Bryant Ball; her stepfather, Francis Hammond Ball; her brothers, Bobby Lee Roden, James Oliver Bryant, Jerald Lee Bryant, Ronald Wayne Ball; her sister, Pamela Sue Huddleston; as well as her only son Kenneth Dean Lewis II.
Dodie is survived by her husband of 59 years, Kenneth Dean Lewis; her sister, Sandra Irene Ball; her brother-in-law, Daniel Charles Tough; her three daughters, Kimberley Kay Lewis Smelcer (Bradley), Kelli Kristine Lewis Gerard (Thomas), and Katharine Elaine Lewis Thomas; her four grandchildren, Meghan, Jennifer, Jade, Austin; and her ten great-grandchildren, Brooks, Mackenli, Kamdyn, Zayden, Rylee, BraeLynn, Karter, JoceLynn, Aspen, Owen, and future great-granddaughter, her namesake, Eden Delores Elaine Moore. She also leaves behind numerous nieces and nephews whom she loved dearly.
