Delores “Dee” Ann Miller, full of courage and strength, passed away surrounded by family on Friday, April 22, 2022, at the age of 77.
Delores was born in Everett, Washington on February 20,1945 to Don Sanders Welch and Erma Edison Welch. At age 13, her family moved to Emmett, Idaho.
In 1963, Dee graduated from Emmett High School. She then took a job at Albertsons where she met her future husband, Dick Miller. They wed on Sept. 5, 1966. The following year they started their family with their first child, Dawn Rae, followed in 1970 by daughter DarNell Lind. Three years later, Dick’s career with Albertsons took them to Twin Falls, Idaho where their third and last daughter, Danene Lei was born in 1974.
Devoted to raising and caring for her three girls was Dee’s priority. Once they were all of school age, Dee began working as an aid in Elementary Special Education. Her creative and loving heart was a perfect fit. In 1991, Dee completed her certification in Special Education at the College of Idaho. She worked in education for 26 years. Stories of amazing kids and colleagues she worked with at Butteview Elementary brought her much joy.
Dee was committed to sending out cards and letters. She remembered everybody’s birthday, anniversary or major event and made a point to make sure you knew you were special. Her heart was generous and giving was her life’s gift. In addition to her love of sending and receiving mail, Dee also enjoyed reading, TMC movies, hummingbirds, travel and of course, BSU football. GO Broncos!
Friends, family and even strangers were always welcome in the Miller home. The downstairs fridge was always “stocked”, ready for visitors. During Sunday drives, their calling card was to stuff an empty can in the bushes or toss one on the front lawn. If you were “lucky” enough to find one, you knew you were loved.
Preceding her in death was the love of her life, Richard “Dick” Miller and her parents, Don and Erma Welch as well as numerous other extended family members. Dee was truly excited to be reunited with “Dickie”.
Dee is survived by her three daughters, Dawn Pearce (Mitch), DarNell Haskell (David), Danene Youngblood (Jesse), her sister, Karen Coller, brothers Jerry (Teresa) Welch, Vaughn (Debbie) Stump and Terry (Michelle) Stump and ten grandchildren, Camron, Rachel, Amre, Addi, Isaiah, Janie, Jaden, Justin, Taylor, Kaylee.
The family would like to extend a special thank you to Dr. James Gallafent and Otilia Gaidos for their exceptional care.
A Memorial Service will be held Friday, April 29, 2022, 2:00 p.m. at the Potter Funeral Chapel of Emmett. A celebration of Dee’s life will immediately follow the service. In lieu of flowers, Dee has requested that donations be made to the St. Jude’s Children Hospital or the Heritage Christian Church of Emmett.
