David Edwin Thomas, 73, passed away July 17, 2025 in Emmett, Idaho. Born September 28,
1951 to Floyd Leroy Thomas and Rozetta Thomas in Emmett, Idaho. His wonderful impact
on his community, neighbors and family will be remembered forever.
David grew up in the orchards of Emmett and attended school, graduating in 1969. After
graduation he started working at the Saw Mill (Boise Cascade), and remained there until it
closed down. Then he went to work for Idaho State Department of Transportation until
retirement.
He was the youngest of three brothers and always looked up to his brothers. David was an
avid outdoorsman always up for an adventure. One of his loves was music, playing the
mandolin and harmonica. From time to time he played in bands with some of his greatest
friends. One of his other loves was his 1929 Ford Model A, driving it in the Cherry Festival
Parade for several years. He enjoyed sports, and was competitive in the family’s Fantasy
Football league, sometimes winning the bragging rights. He was a holiday candy maker, but
was just as good at eating it.
David was willing to lend a helping hand to anyone, and will be missed for his generous,
kind nature.
Proceeded in death by his parents, brother Dana; and half-sister Dicie Greer.
Survived by his oldest brother Dalis Thomas; sister-in-law Dorothy Thomas; nephew, Lance
(Laura) Thomas; niece, Stana (Travis) Hoagland; great nieces, Jerica and Amy Hoagland.
A graveside service will be held at 11:00 AM Saturday, July 26, 2025 at the Emmett
Cemetery. A celebration, storytelling luncheon to follow at the Emmett Senior Citizen
Center.
