David Knapp Obituary

David Wyatt Knapp passed away November 12, 2024 in the hospice unit in Vacaville, CA. He was born August 20, 1966, in Seattle, WA to Charles and Patricia Mahaffey Knapp. He had 2 older siblings, Charles Jr. “Chucky” and Crystal. His younger brother, John, joined the family three years later.

The family moved back to Boise in 1969. Charles and Patricia divorced a few years later. David spent his younger years growing up between his two parents. He was athletic and excelled at boxing; even winning a match against Kenny Keene. David’s mom, Patrcia, had 3 more daughters, his stepsisters Patricia, Amber, and Cerina.

David loved his brothers and sisters and their children. He was devastated when Chucky died in 1989.

He moved to New Mexico where he met Irene and learned to drive semi-trucks. Later he moved to California.

David was an artist and shared some of his talents with family and sold other pieces. In August 2023 David was diagnosed with colon cancer. With complications following surgery, the cancer spread. He desired to come home and see his mom and dad one more time but couldn’t travel back to Idaho. David’s dad was able to visit him shortly before his passing and David’s mother died one month before he passed away.

David is preceded in death by his brother, Chucky; his mother, Patricia; his grandparents, and friend Irene.

He is survived by his father “Pops”, Charles; his stepmother Delores; stepfather “Skip” DeNice; brother, John; sisters, Crystal, Patricia, Amber, and Cerina, and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.
