David "Keith" Allen

September 13, 1922 ~ May 25, 2021 (age 98) 98 Years Old

David Allen Obituary

 David Keith Allen went home peacefully to be with his Lord and Savior at his house in Eagle March 25, 2021. He was born September 13, 1922 in a small home located on the corner of Main Street and Cherry Lane in Meridian, Idaho.

 Keith was the 6th child born to Ben and Maude Allen. He had 2 sisters, Frances and Hazel, and 3 brothers, Howard, Paul and Ralph Allen. They moved to Eagle in 1923 where his parents farmed 17 acres on the corner of Eagle and Floating Feather Rd. He attended Eagle Grade School and graduated from Eagle High School in 1940. He was very active and gifted in sports and loved to play football, basketball and baseball.

 After graduation, Keith went to Washington and worked in the shipping yards for a couple of years.

He moved back to Eagle and purchased 35 acres just south of his parent's place on Eagle Rd. He soon met the love of his life, Helen Marie Callihan in 1946 and they were married March 26, 1949 (Helen's Birthday) in Winnemucca. They went to Sumpter, Oregon for their honeymoon.  Keith started building their home with his Dad on the 35 acres, started a family and had 2 children, Danny Joe and Donna Frances. They would live there for 44 years. Keith worked as a Carpenter, Mason, farmed and milked cows for several years until he went to work in 1957 with the State Highway Department. He worked on the bridge crew and traveled the state repairing bridges and highways until he retired in 1976.

 After retirement Keith and Helen sold their farm on Eagle Road and bought 16 acres on Short Lane in Eagle where they still reside. He raised cows and loved to farm and play in the dirt. He loved going to the Star and Eagle Senior Citizens, playing pool and cards. He also drove the Senior Bus and delivered Meals-on-Wheels and was on the board of Directors.

 Keith was an incredible Husband, Dad, Grandpa, Great Grandpa, friend and neighbor. He was very talented in anything he could build.

In his later years he was most proud of raising his cows and irrigating and riding his 4-wheeler on his little farm. He had a passion for hard work and the outdoors. He loved all kinds of Sports and supported his grandchildren and great grandchildren in their athletic events. He also supported and had season tickets to BSU with his son and grandson.

 He is survived by his wife, Helen; son, Danny (Robin) Allen of Middleton; daughter, Donna (Danny) Bosworth of Boise; his seven grandchildren: Patrick (Shelly) Allen, Tracy Allen, Theresa (Dax) Pearson, Ryan (April) Maher, Hannah (Todd) Gordon, Brett (April) Bosworth and Lory Stemple;

great grandchildren: Jacob and Jordon Allen, Chance and Reed Johns, Caseyn and Raimee Pearson, Hunter and Madisyn Maher, Pacience Gordon, Taylor Roehr, Peyton and Braiden Stemple.

He was preceded in death by his parents: Ben and Maude Allen; step mother, Louella Allen; sisters, Frances Kissel and Hazel Franklin; brothers, Howard, Paul and

Ralph Allen and son-in-law Jim Maher.

 Graveside services will be held at 11:00 AM on Wednesday, June 2, 2021 at the Meridian Cemetery.  Viewing will take place at the Potter Funeral Chapel on Tuesday from 6:00-8:00 PM.

 In lieu of Flowers, donations can be made in his name to the St ar and Eagle Senior Citizens and Eagle Christian Church or the Charity of your Choice.
