With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of Charles "Chuck" Danial Rolland, a beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother and uncle, Saturday, March 21, 2026, at St. Al's Hospital in Boise, Idaho, with his loving family by his side. Chuck was a friend to everyone he met and there was not a place that he would go where he didn't run into someone he knew. A trip to the grocery store for one item could turn into a 2-hour session while he chatted with everyone he knew. He was so loved and respected by so many people. It was a beautiful thing to watch.
Chuck was born on March 8, 1950 to Leona and Kenny Rolland at the Mary Secor Hospital in Emmett, Idaho. He came into this world prematurely, arriving 2 months early. The doctors told his mom that if she wanted him to survive it would be up to her to take him home and nurse him to health. He thrived from the moment he was born. Chuck was the "protective" older brother for his 3 younger siblings throughout his life and was teased about being mom's golden child.
Chuck attended school in Emmett, Idaho, graduating from the Emmett High School in May of 1969. He married Nan Leonard on March 20, 1971, and from this union, daughter, Shannon, and son, Justin, were born. Chuck and Nan later divorced. He married Teresa Murphy on April 28, 1990, and his youngest son, Tyler, was born. Chuck and Teresa adventured to Idaho Falls and on to Elko, Nevada when they finally made it home to Emmett, settling and making Emmett their forever home.
He began his career with Albertsons as a box boy when he was 16. From Emmett to the Vista Albertson's in Boise, Chuck was promoted to 3rd Man in LaGrande, Oregon, Assistant Manager in Ontario, to Store Director in Pocatello, Rexburg, Emmett, Idaho Falls, Boise, Elko and back to Emmett. He retired from Albertsons January of 2010 and was then elected as Gem County Sheriff where he served for 12 years. Being elected as Sheriff was his dream and everyday was a gift when he served Gem County. it was not a "job" to Chuck, it was his passion and that showed in his service to the community; he loved every minute of it.
Chuck loved camping, fishing, riding ATV's and relaxing with family in the mountains. His camper was his second home. Most vacations were spent with Chuck pulling his camper instead of staying in hotels. No matter what Chuck became involved in, he always rose to the top position from Kiwanis to the Masonic Lodge. He was one of three is the state of Idaho to earn the prestigious honor of Grand Mason.
Chuck never met a stranger. If he liked you, you never had a doubt. He was a true friend, always there for you in the good times and especially during the hard times. Family came first for Chuck. He loved his family more than anything in this world. Family was Chuck~
Chuck will be greatly missed by everyone. He is survived by his wife, Teresa; daughter, Shannon (Beau) Hansen; son, Tyler (Priscilla) Rolland; grandson, Tanner (Emily) Sucher; brother, Frank (Jill) Rolland; sister, Dee Dee (Allen) Knight; sister, Jamie Peterson as well as many nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles and cousins.
Chuck was preceded in death by his son, Justin Charles; parents; brothers, Larry and Kenny; and sister, Susan Bryant; nephew, Domanic; grandparents, Jim and Mary Ford & Lloyd and Nell Rolland and many more dear family and friends who are welcoming him home and rejoicing in a beautiful reunion.
Memorial service will be held March 28, 2026 at the Community Bible Church (2045 Empire St. Emmett, Idaho), where family and friends are invited to celebrate his life and legacy. The service will be lived streamed and accessible on Chuck's obituary page at potterchapel.com.
