Charles "Chuck" Edward MacKenzie passed away peacefully at their ranch in Ola, Idaho surrounded by his family on Wednesday, June 4, 2025. Charles was born on March 3, 1941 in Caldwell, Idaho to Charles MacKenzie Sr. and Olive Feltwell. Chuck went to high school in the Caldwell School District. He joined the army after high school and served from October 19,1959 through October 18,1965, receiving his major in plumbing. After serving in the military, he then met the love of his life, Connie Hudson. On February 5, 1966, Chuck and Connie were married at the Long Creek Community Church. Chuck was a plumber at that time, and they eventually opened their own plumbing business, Western Plumbing, Inc. in Caldwell, Idaho. They owned and operated Western Plumbing, Inc. while pursuing their dream of owning their own ranch. They ran cattle on the ranch in Jordan Valley, Oregon for years. In 1986, they purchased a cattle ranch in Ola, Idaho, now known as the MacKenzie Ranch, where they have resided.
Chuck and Connie celebrated 59 years of marriage, February 5, 2025, the day before his wife, Connie, peacefully passed away at their ranch on February 6th, 2025. Chuck and Connie enjoyed dancing together, usually closing places down. They were also known for continuing the "after party" at their home and Connie would cook breakfast for everyone, usually about 4:00 in the morning! Chuck loved country music, especially old country, always playing in the house. Chuck was known for his "hoop and holler" when the music was playing. He was known for being strong, hardworking, a plumber and cowboy, he even enjoyed a little bit of Black Velvet or Canadian LTD whiskey, he thought Pendleton whiskey was too expensive! At times, he may have come across as hard to get along with and stubborn, but he also had such a soft, gentle and loving side. Chuck loved his wife, daughters, grandkids, great grandkids, family and friends very much. Randy Lyons described him best...he was John Wayne, Clint Eastwood and Roy Rogers, all wrapped up in one. His daughters would add a little Sam Elliot, as well.
Cowboy, you left us and the ranch to join your forever Cowgirl over the mountain for the FINAL ride.
Their Legacy will never be forgotten and will continue on forever.
Many thanks to each and every one of you including, his family members and friends who cared for him in these last few months, there were so many of you, including, Joni Schooley, whom was his hired caretaker for the last part of his life.
Also, a very special thank you for all the care he received from his Grandson, Houston, on a DAILY basis. Grandpa was so thankful, and he appreciated you so much...
