Carol Anne Farmer (née Gleason) was born November 23, 1934 in Caldwell Idaho, the youngest of six. At fourteen, she moved to Davis California to live with her sister Nathalie and brother-in-law Larry. After graduating from Davis High, Carol used her bright mind and big heart to earn a degree at Providence Nursing School in Oakland. Shortly thereafter, she interned at a mental health hospital in Menlo Park, where she met a handsome young orderly named Guy Farmer. They married February 18, 1956, and spent sixty-nine loving years together.
There will be a graveside service at the Emmett Cemetery on Friday, May 9, 2025 at 2:00 PM.
Carol built an impressive thirty-four career as a nurse at Eden Hospital, eventually retiring as the Director of Nursing in 1994. After retirement, was an active golfer, bowler, card player, line dancer, and member of the Red Hat Society. While she maintained an active social life, what Carol loved most was her family: from her first of five children to the last of her great-grandchildren, and the forty something in between. Her love was strong and unconditional, and she showed it in many ways, like teaching her kids about Jesus, baking her famous sugar cookies on Christmas Eve, and disciplining a rowdy son with a fly swatter whenever she was mad (it isn’t easy raising four boys!).
Carol passed away on October 18, 2024 in Garden Valley Idaho surrounded by family, including her daughter, Leslie, whose undying devotion got her through her difficult final years. She walks with the Lord now, reunited with her husband, restored in mind and body, and surrounded in the same holy love she gave to others her entire life. She will be dearly missed.
