Calvin Darrell Petersen born January 27, 1949, passed away peacefully, March 4,2026, after a sudden battle with colon and liver cancer. He was a man of deep and unwavering faith, a devoted father, grandfather, brother, and friend whose life was guided by his love for God and his commitment to serving others.
Calvin was known by those who loved him as a true servant of God. His faith was the foundation of his life, and he read his scriptures daily, finding strength and guidance in the Word. His devotion to his church community brought him great joy, and he cherished the many friendships he formed through church activities and fellowship.
A proud veteran, Calvin served his country from 1968 to 1970. He carried the values of dedication, humility, and service throughout his life.
Calvin had a deep love for the outdoors. Whether riding horses, snowmobiling, riding motorcycles, fishing, hiking, or camping, he found peace and happiness in nature. Those moments in the great outdoors were some of the places where he felt closest to God’s creation.
One of the greatest blessings of Calvin’s life was helping raise his grandson, Bryce. In Bryce, Calvin saw both purpose and inspiration. He often said that Bryce helped him become the better man he had always wanted to be.
In the final years of his life, Calvin demonstrated extraordinary love and sacrifice by caring for his mother until her passing just over a year ago. He gave that time willingly, honoring her with the same devotion he gave to his faith and family.
After years of responsibility and care for others, Calvin was preparing to begin a long-anticipated journey of travel and exploration. Sadly, that dream was interrupted by a sudden diagnosis of colon and liver cancer, which took him from this world far too quickly.
Though his passing leaves a deep void, his legacy of faith, service, and love will live on in the many lives he touched.
Calvin is survived by his children, Rachel Petersen, Regina (Gina) Petersen Fox, Jeremy Petersen, Joel Petersen, and Jacob (Jake) Petersen; and his brothers Ray, Ronnie, and Javier Petersen.
He will be remembered as a man of faith, strength, kindness, and devotion — a man who lived his life in service to God, his family, and those around him.
