Blaine L. Hyde, 74, of Emmett passed away Saturday, April 8, 2023 at his home. He was born April 10, 1948 to Norris and Nona Hyde in Logan, Utah as one of 3 children.
Blaine was 13 years old when the family moved to Emmett, Idaho where he went on to graduate high school. After graduation, he attended the University of Idaho where he obtained a bachelor's degree in animal science. Upon graduation he returned to Emmett and worked at Emmett Valley Livestock and then Emmett Valley Fruit. In 1981, Blaine became a reserve police officer with the Emmett PD. Three years later he became a full time Police Officer. He worked his way through the ranks of the police department, eventually becoming Chief of Police. He retired from the department in 2007. During his police service he also served as a marksman and firearms instructor.
In 1975, Blaine met and married Judy Bowman, and became an instant father to two boys, Trevor and Tracy. In 1977, they welcomed to the family another boy, Shawn. They were committed to each other for 44 years until Judy's passing in 2021. The outdoors was a common interest for Blaine and Judy, therefore, the boys received a lot of education in hunting, fishing and horsemanship. Dog training was another shared passion for Blaine and Judy. It was a lifestyle that Blaine excelled at. Several of his dogs have been national champions in the Hunting Retriever category. These accolades are a testament to his devotion to the sport and his dogs.
In addition to the outdoors and dog training, Blaine loved back country Elk hunting, high mountain lake fishing, shooting and cutting and splitting wood. There was never an idle moment. His work ethic was not kept to himself as he shared it with the family, friends, co-workers, etc.
Blaine was preceded in death by his wife, Judy, both parents, and brother, Alan. He is survived by his 3 boys, Trevor, Tracy, Shawn and their families including 16 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren as well as his brother, Brent.
