Betty Sue Kuhlmann, age 85, from Horseshoe Bend, Idaho, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, August 12, 2025 at River’s Edge Rehabilitation and Living Center in Emmett, Idaho. Betty was born on December 1, 1939 in Hartville, Missouri to Howard and Dorothy Wampler. She moved to Riverton, Iowa with her family where she graduated from high school. After high school she moved to Nebraska City, Nebraska where she started working at the Meter Plant.
Betty met Darold in 1961 and married in 1962. They lived in various cities in Nebraska until 1976 when they moved their family to Horseshoe Bend, Idaho. Betty had multiple jobs throughout her life. She worked in a meat packing plant, at Boise Cascade mill, truck driving with her husband, and driving pilot car among various other jobs.
Outside of work, Betty loved to spend time with friends and family. She enjoyed camping, waterskiing, teaching her “kids” to waterski, and doing puzzles.
Betty is survived by her husband, Darold Kuhlmann; one brother, Owen Wampler; son, Michel (Shelley) Kuhlmann; daughter, Susan (Gary) Speaks; grandchildren, Shane Benjamin, Anthony (Christina) Kaiserman, Ben Kaiserman, Jessica (Brandon) Anderson; 9 great grandchildren and 3 great-great grandchildren.
Betty was preceded in death by her parents, Howard Wampler and Dorothy Wampler; sisters, Eve McMann and Mary Wampler; brothers, Carl Wampler and Don Wampler; and grandchildren, Kristie Kobs and Jayden Kuhlmann.
A Viewing for Betty will be Friday, August 22, 2025 at the Potter Funeral Chapel in Emmett, Idaho from 6:00–8:00 PM. Funeral Services will be held on Saturday, August 23, 2025 at the Ladies Club Hall in Horseshoe Bend, Idaho at 10:00 AM. Burial will follow at the Pioneer Cemetery in Horseshoe Bend. A reception will follow at the Legion Hall where all are welcome to gather and remember Betty’s life with family and friends.
She will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her.
