Obituary

Bernice A. Rogers, 91, passed away June 28,2026 at her home with her grandson and son by her side.

Born December 11,1934 in Emmett, the fourth child of 13, on her brother Bud's birthday, to Albert and Frieda Helmick.

She grew up a farm girl, telling us about turkeys and working a team of horses. As well as stories of driving to Cascade as a young girl of 14, for her dad and walking to school across the field with her brothers teasing her along the way.

At age 18 she met and married a handsome Leonard Rogers, they quickly added two kids; Steven in 1954 and Glenda in 1955 thus completing the family. After living on Leonard's family farm until Steve was old enough to climb the fence and give them several heart attacks, they decided moving to town was more appropriate and she wanted to give up the farm life of milking cows and enjoy town life where they lived until 1976. They then built their home on Black Canyon Hwy with a couple acres for a couple cows, a couple beloved horses and room for a big garden, rose bushes, a few fruit trees and a place for them to putter around.

The Rogers enjoyed a full happy life. They enjoyed traveling after retirement; going on cruises, trips overseas, lots of Jackpot trips, camping at Anderson Ranch, boating, and fishing… they loved fishing.  They were members of the Black Canyon riding club. They also enjoyed spending time traveling with their siblings and in-laws. She spent several years on a bowling league with her sister-in-law Shirley until her untimely passing.

They were awesome grandparents and enjoyed their two grandkids, taking them places and letting them have friends over to terrorize them on overnight visits.

In her later years, until just recently after a fall, she was active in her garden and yard. Every summer she was out in the blackberry bushes or tending to the roses. Her special sister-in-law and friend Colleen would come and help her with the weeds and blackberries.

In March 2026 she fell in her kitchen and cracked her pelvis. Try as she might, she never walked again. She went to River’s Edge in Emmett where she eventually developed heart failure. In June she entered into hospice at home with her son and grandson staying by her side.

She joined a special group of predeceased family. Her parents Albert and Frieda; spouse Leonard; daughter Glenda and siblings in birth order: Beulah, Bud, Bob, Irene, Vivian, Rose, Gary and
Aaron.

She is survived by siblings Cleo, Karen, Ed and Tim, her immediate family; son Steve and wife Brenda, her grandchildren Christopher Rogers and Heather (Josh) Wood. Her great grandchildren Lilly Rogers, Savannah and Calvin Wood
