Benjamin Green Obituary

Benjamin Matthew Green, a beloved husband, father, grandfather, and friend, passed away peacefully on March 30, 2025, at the age of 85, in Boise, Idaho.
Born on September 26, 1939, in Eureka, Montana, Ben was the son of Dewey and Zelma Schuck Green. He was raised in a loving family alongside his thirteen siblings, with whom he shared a deep bond throughout his life.
On September 26, 1960, Ben married the love of his life, Mary Frances Bessinger, in St. Marie’s, Idaho. Together, they built a life filled with love, family, and cherished memories. Ben and Mary were inseparable partners, sharing in the joys and challenges of life together.
Ben dedicated much of his life to his work at Boise Cascade Sawmill in Horseshoe Bend, Idaho, where he retired in 1998, after many years of hard work and dedication. He was known for his strong work ethic and his unwavering commitment to providing for his family.
Ben’s legacy lives on in his four children, Deborah (Kogi Naidoo) Hill, Timothy (Robin) Green, Julie (John Wilfong) Eldred, and Susan (Mark Shemwell) Wilson. He was also the proud stepfather of Shari (Duran Freese) Cook; grandfather of 16 grandchildren and 19 ½ great-grandchildren.
Along with his parents, he was predeceased by his beloved wife, Mary; grandson, Levi Hill; five brothers, Robert, John, Donald, James and Theodore Green; five sisters, Rosemary Green, Regina Green, Ramona Deede, Delores Green and Agnes Humphrey, whose memory will forever remain in the hearts of those who loved him.
A devoted family man, Ben’s greatest joy was spending time with his loved ones. He found peace and happiness in the company of his family, and his warm presence will be dearly missed by all who knew him. He is survived by his children; two sisters, Karen McQuade and Zita Winter; one brother Laurence Green; grandchildren, great-grandchildren, a great-great-grandchild and his best friend, Jim Bounds.
Ben’s passing leaves a deep void, but his memory will live on in the hearts of all those who had the privilege of knowing him. His family will forever be grateful for his love, wisdom, and the strong foundation he provided.
A graveside service will be held at Pioneer Cemetery in Horseshoe Bend, Idaho, on Friday, April 4, 2025, at 11:00 AM. A celebration of life will follow at the Ladies Hall in Horseshoe Bend immediately after.
