In Loving Memory of Pastor Basil C. Williams Sr.
Pastor Basil C. Williams Sr., a faithful shepherd who truly knew how to love and care for God’s people, passed peacefully from this earth on January 14, 2026, in Emmett, Idaho, at the age of 85, surrounded by his loving family. He was baptized in the Boise River in 1952, and it seemed fitting that his earthly journey would come full circle and end in Idaho.
Basil was born on January 4, 1941, in Trumann, Arkansas, to Martha Elizabeth “June” Williams and Basil Bradford Williams. His life was marked by deep faith, selfless service, unwavering devotion to God, and a sincere love for people. “As for me and my house, we will serve the Lord” (Joshua 24:15) was not just a verse he believed, but a life he lived.
Basil answered the call of God early in life and pursued biblical training at Tupelo Bible College. It was there that he met the love of his life, Alberta Marie. They were married in February 1961, beginning a lifelong partnership rooted in love, ministry, and shared purpose. “Two are better than one, because they have a good reward for their labor” (Ecclesiastes 4:9). Alberta preceded him in death by 114 days, and their reunion in heaven brings great comfort to those who loved them.
Together, Basil and Alberta dedicated their lives to pastoral ministry and missionary service. In 1963, while living in Española, New Mexico, they welcomed their first son, Basil Jr. Soon afterward, they followed God’s call to the mission field in Liberia, West Africa, where their second son, Bryan, was born. Their missionary work advanced the Gospel and strengthened the faith of many. “Go therefore and make disciples of all nations” (Matthew 28:19).
In 1973, the family returned to New Mexico, where Basil began pastoral service at Calvary Pentecostal Church in Albuquerque, later known as the Church of Albuquerque. In 1978, the Williams welcomed their youngest child, Bethany, completing their family. For decades, Pastor Williams faithfully served the congregation.
In 1987, Pastor Williams stepped out in faith and became the SENCO authorized dealer in Albuquerque, New Mexico. What became known as Air Nailer grew into far more than a business. It became an extension of his ministry and an integral part of both his family’s life and the church family he loved so dearly. “ and whatsoever ye do, do it heartily, as to the Lord, and not unto men; knowing that of the Lord ye shall receive the reward of the inheritance: for ye serve the Lord Christ.”
(Colossians 3:23-24 KJV)
To Pastor Williams, ministry and work were never separate; both were acts of service to God and His people.
Known for his servant’s heart, powerful preaching, gentle spirit, radiant smile, and deep compassion, Pastor Williams had a rare gift for seeing the God-given value in every person he encountered. “Let all that you do be done with love” (1 Corinthians 16:14). His ministry consistently pointed people toward salvation and a deeper relationship with Jesus Christ.
Pastor Williams exemplified the teachings of Scripture through unwavering commitment, perseverance, and a life fully surrendered to God. He spoke life, encouragement, and truth, leaving hearts stronger and faith deeper.
Pastor Basil Williams leaves behind transformed lives, strengthened faith, and a family of God inspired by his living testimony. He was one of those rare souls whose light shine so brightly that it helped lost souls find their way back to the Savior. “You are the light of the world” (Matthew 5:14). That light continues to shine through the people he loved, served, and led closer to the Lord.
He is survived by his children: Basil Williams Jr. and his wife Pam; Bryan Williams and his wife Christi; and Bethany Browning and her husband Morgan. He is also survived by his grandchildren Josh, Dustin, Chloe, Ally, Emily, Ethan, and Aaron; and his great-grandchildren Journie and Clayton. Additional survivors include his brother-in-law Dan Lewis and his aunt Shirley Lassiter.
“Well done, thou good and faithful servant.” (Matthew 25:21)
“ I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith” (2 Timothy 4:7).
The family extends their deepest gratitude to Copper Falls Hospice for the exceptional compassion, grace, and loving care shown to our parents.
