Aubyn Leon Wallace, 85, of Emmett Idaho, passed away peacefully, at his home, Monday morning, August 11, 2025 with his beloved sweetheart, and family by his side.
Born July 30, 1940 in Milton, West Virginia to the late Culvy Ivan Sr. and Alberta (Villars) Wallace.
Leon was the 10th child to be born of 16 children.  10 boys, 6 girls.  He graduated from Milton High School in 1959.  He was a proud Veteran of the United Sates Navy and served on the USS Forrestal.  While home on a short leave, he noticed a lovely lady walking down the sidewalk.  At that moment he turned to his best friend and said that he didn’t know who she was, but he knew, she was the one that he was going to marry one day. Shortly thereafter, when he again returned home from the service, he found that lovely lady and she became his sweet heart to the end. They were united in marriage on May 16th, 1963.  They were happily married for 62 years.  To this union were born; 3 boys and identical twin girls. He was a devoted husband, father, brother, brother-in-law, uncle, grandfather and great-grandfather.
He worked at the steel mill in East Chicago, Indiana as a crane operator.  Shortly thereafter he moved back to West Virginia where he was employed at Chemical Tank Lines.  He and his sweetheart chose on the morning of Easter Sunday, 1969 to commit their lives to the Lord.  He dedicated his life to the work of his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.  He then felt the calling to enter into Christian Education. He graduated in 1974 from Marshall University with a Bachelors of Arts Degree in education, while working for Cabell County as a bus driver.  He sacrificed throughout his life to ensure each one of his children had a thorough Christian school education.  Throughout his years of teaching, at Mountain States Christian School in Culloden West, Virginia, Fort Scott Christian Heights in Fort Scott, Kansas, where he also drove the school bus, from our home in Missouri across the state line to Kansas, picking up the children along the way.  He also taught at Mt. Zion Bible School in Ava, Missouri where he also was the girls’ volleyball and basketball coach.  He also taught at Grace Christian Academy in Caldwell, Idaho, before finally retiring at 18 years from teaching.  Aside from his years of teaching, his many other jobs included working at United Manufacturing, a waterbed factory, in Emmett, Idaho; Douglas Bedroom Design in Nampa, Idaho; working along-side his son in law, Ed at Ed’s Automotive Repair taking care of the day-to-day office operations; working along-side his son Greg at Tri-County Chem-Dry, cleaning and installing carpet; working along-side his sweetheart as a custodian in Community Bible Church and their son Darren’s dental office, Wallace Family Dentistry.  Dad served his church Community Bible Church, throughout the years, in many different capacities, including serving on the board, as treasurer and many different committees.
Dad enjoyed fishing trips with his kids and grandkids and went on many summer vacations with his adult children and grandchildren.  Some of his many trips included Canada, Oregon Coast, Kentucky, Ohio, West Virigina, Missouri, Tennessee, Texas, Dominican Republic, India, Germany and many places in between. When flying wasn’t essential, he preferred to travel in style, by motorhome. Dad enjoyed word puzzles, playing cards and board games.  His favorite was playing Skip Bo with his sweetheart.   He also thoroughly enjoyed working puzzles with his children, grandchildren and even great grandchildren.
Leon is survived by his sweetheart of 62 years, Wanda; his sons, Gregory “Greg” (Sondra) Wallace of Emmett, Idaho, Darren (Andrea) Wallace of Star, Idaho, and Michael “Mike” (Anja) Wallace of Emmett, Idaho; his identical twin daughters, Melissa (Tim) Canaday of Emmett, Idaho, and Melinda (Ed) Youngstrom of Emmett, Idaho; fourteen grandchildren, Matthew (Laura) Wallace, Joshua (Chelsie) Wallace, Madison Wallace, Kelsey (Britton) McCrary, Kaitlyn Wallace, Kylie Jo Wallace, Anthony Wallace, Kevin (Annalese) Wallace, Mariah Wallace, Carrson (Amanda) Canaday, Makenna Canaday, Brianna Youngstrom, Brittney Youngstrom, Brayden Youngstrom; two sisters, Karla (David) Woodrum of Rockbridge, Ohio and Shirley Mount of Gary, Indiana; sisters-in-law, Maxine Wallace of Columbus, Ohio and Lillie Wallace of Florida; two brothers, Robert (Kay) Wallace of Columbus, Ohio and Larry Wallace of Milton, West Virginia; a close family friend, Debi Pollock Parker and her son Barry Rosen, both of Findlay, Ohio, whom dad had a special place for in his heart; and he also leaves behind fourteen great-grandchildren.
