Obituary

Archie L. Andrus, 91, passed away August 6, 2026 in Emmett, Idaho. Archie was born January 18, 1935, in Branch, Louisiana. He was the youngest of three children born to Walter and Ernie Milligan Andrus. He grew up in Rayne, Louisiana and after graduating high school earned a degree from Southeastern Louisiana University and then served in the U.S. Army. He later attended seminary school and served as an Episcopal priest while earning a master's degree in theater from Trinity University. He spent his career teaching drama and set design at the University of Houston.

Archie will be remembered for his sharp wit, keen insight, never failing sense of humor, and his ability to connect with people. He was a great cook and consolidated his "South Coast" inspired recipes, a mixture of Cajun-Creole and Tex-Mex, into a cookbook he shared with family and friends. He loved to entertain and bring people together.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Walter and Ernie; his siblings, James D. Andrus and Dorothy Andrus Miller.

Archie is survived by his son, Cutler, daughter, Millicent; grandchildren, Emma, Ryan, Haydn, Isabelle and Bridget; and great grandson, Beau. Archie will be interred at Rayne Cemetery with his parents and brother.
