Alberta Williams Obituary

In Loving Memory of Alberta Marie (North) Williams

Alberta Marie (North) Williams was born in Albuquerque, New Mexico, in July of 1940. She passed peacefully from this earth on September 23, 2025, in Emmett, Idaho, at the age of 85, surrounded by her beloved family.

From a young age, Alberta carried two dreams in her heart: to be a missionary and a mother. At just fifteen years old, she left her home in New Mexico and journeyed to Tupelo, Mississippi, where she attended Tupelo Bible College. It was there she met the love of her life, Basil. After earning her bachelor’s degree in Theology, Alberta married her sweetheart in February of 1961.

Together, Basil and Alberta dedicated their lives to pastoral ministry and missionary service. In 1963, while living in Española, New Mexico, they welcomed their firstborn son, Basil Jr. Soon after, the couple fulfilled their calling to the mission field in Liberia, West Africa, where their second son, Bryan, was born. Their missionary work continued faithfully until 1973, when they returned to New Mexico and began pastoral service at Calvary Pentecostal Church in Albuquerque — later known as the Church of Albuquerque. In 1978, they welcomed their youngest child, Bethany, completing their family.

Alberta was a gifted artist with a love for oil painting, often sketching mountains in the margins of her church notes. She dreamed in designs, sketching plans for homes and projects, and she expressed her creativity through sewing, making treasured items for her children and grandchildren. She was also well-known for her generous heart in the kitchen — whether staying up into the early hours to prepare breakfast for visitors or serving her famous waffles, pistachio pudding, and pecan pies to those she loved.

Her love for purple was well-known, from the clothes she wore to the purple wool carpet in her parsonage bedroom. She cherished scenic drives, especially along Rio Grande Road, which reminded her of her mother. Music was another passion: she played the organ in church, the accordion in nursing homes, and loved listening to Montovani, Floyd Cramer, Roger Williams, and others as she drifted to sleep.

To her grandchildren, she was “Granny,” a title she wore with pride. She delighted in their gifts of simple rocks, which she displayed across her desk, and she loved watching movies with them while sharing almonds or raisins. In her later years, her greatest joy was sitting beside Basil, the love of her life, in matching recliners, watching westerns while crunching Sonic ice.

Alberta will be remembered for her steadfast faith, her deep convictions, her pioneer spirit, and her unwavering devotion to God, her family, and her church. Her legacy of love, service, and creativity lives on in all who knew her.

Per Alberta's request, no notices were placed upon her passing and services were held privately with just family.
