LYNN HYSLOP Obituary

 Lynn Douglas Hyslop Sr., 71, died Tuesday April 3, 2018 doing what he loved to do; working with wood with his friend Wayne Rexford.

 Lynn was born Aug. 19, 1946 in Nampa ID to Doug and Julie Hyslop. Viewing will be Tuesday April 10, 2018 from 6pm-8pm at Potter Funeral Chapel.  Funeral services will be Wednesday April 11, 2018 at 6pm at Emmett High School gymnasium. 

 Lynn grew up on a farm south of Lake Lowell.  He spent the first eight grades at Scism School.  He graduated from Nampa High School then the University of Idaho and took many classes from the various universities around the area.  While at the University of Idaho Lynn married Nancy Sachtjen, they celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary Dec. 27, 2017.  He started his teaching career in Plummer Idaho teaching 7th grade.  While in Plummer Lynn purchased his first Corvette.  The Hyslop’s moved to Emmett in 1970 where Lynn taught science and coached junior high football and track and field.  Later Lynn taught high school Biology and coached varsity track and field for the remainder of his 32 year teaching career.  He enjoyed taking his students on field trips to local ponds as well as places as far away as Yellowstone National Park.  Some profession organizations Lynn belonged to where: Gem County Education Association, Idaho Education Association, National Education Association, he was a lifetime member of the Third District Coaches Association, and was inducted into the Retired Educators Association of Idaho Hall of Fame.  While coaching he was the E Club advisor, and boys third district track and field coach of the year numerous times.

 In 2002 Lynn retired from teaching but still volunteered to help with high school athletic events.  He also rekindled his love for RC airplane flying and Corvettes.  Lynn was a member of the Academy of Model Aeronautics and the Fun Run Bunch Corvette Club.  Lynn traveled throughout the United States with the Fun Run Bunch Corvette Club.  He loved the South Pacific and cruised the Panama Canal in January. 

 Lynn is survived by his wife Nancy, his beloved mother Julie Hyslop, sister Julie Ann Hanson (Ron), brother Jim Hyslop (Jan), sister Sara Miller (David).  His children: Dawn Vezzoso (Brian) of Nampa, Lynn Jr. (Julie) of Middleton, Ted (Terra) of Nampa. Grandchildren: Kristany Young (Mathew) of Oceanside CA, Logan (Madison) of Nampa, Elizabeth Hyslop of Oceanside CA, Lawson Schuler of Middleton, Brianna and Braylee Vezzoso and Vaugh, Sydney, and Dylon Hyslop all of Nampa.  Great Grandchildren: Mikaylee, Alyson Young and Daxton Hyslop. And numerous nieces and nephews.

 He was preceded in death by his father Doug Hyslop.

 The family will receive friends and viewing will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. on Tuesday, April 10th at the Potter Funeral Chapel.  Memorial Services will be held at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday, April 11th at the Emmett High School Gym.
