JAYNE ESTHER CARLSON

 Jayne Esther Carlson passed away at her home on August 7, 2019.  Jayne was born April 3, 1953 in El Hambra, California, to Howard and Edna Carlson.  Jayne received her AAS in 1973, immediately accepting a position with Hewlett Packard where she remained a loyal employee for 24 years.  She then focused her passion back to horticulture after receiving her Bachelor of Applied Science in Horticulture from Boise State University in 1998.  She worked for Jayker Nursery for 8 years, leaving in 2005 when Jayne and Brad moved to Garden Valley. 

 Jayne met Brad Rice in 1983, and soon became a dedicated stepmom.  Her new family realized that she was a dedicated master gardener, enjoying all things horticulture.  Jayne was a loving mother, wife, and grandma.  In addition to her love of plants, she loved horses, snowmobiles, camping, boating with friends, and fishing.  Jayne also loved cooking and canning foods, and her family always looked forward to receiving canned goods during the holidays. 

 Jayne was preceded in death by her father and mother, Howard and Edna Carlson, as well as her sister and brother, Elena Harrison (John) and Matthew Carlson.  She is survived by her stepson, Randy (Michelle) Rice of Meridian; stepdaughter, Shelley Rice, of Buhl; grandchildren Brandon Wolters, Jesse (Tasha) Rice, Allison, Alexa, Dakota, Emily; great granddaughter Claira, and her very loved pets, Hannah and Sister.

 The family would like to thank Jayne’s amazing friends, Horizon Home Health and Hospice (Steven, Autumn, and Faye), and her granddaughter Allison who provided unending care and love to Jayne. 

 In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the Garden Valley Senior Center.
