 Celebration of life service for K. Leonard Pratt 75 of High Valley who passed away on Thursday November 30, 2017 will be held on Saturday December 16, 2017 at 2:00 pm at the Potter Funeral Chapel in Emmett.

 He was born on November 11, 1942 at Emmett to Kenneth E. and Dorothy Lucille McConnel Pratt.  Leonard attended schools at Sweet, Montour and Emmett.  He graduated from Emmett High School in May 1960.  He received a B.A. degree from the College of Idaho in 1964, and received post graduate’s credits at the College of Idaho, George Fox University, Boise State University, Northwest Nazarene College, and the University of Idaho. 

 He married Esther Marie Goettsche at Burley on June 14, 1964.  Leonard was an active member of the Jaycees, Optimist Club, Masonic Lodge, and Order of DeMolay.  He was active in education associations including the GCEA, IEA, and NEA.  He served in several offices including GCEA president.  Leonard was very active in judo organizations.  He was a member of the United States Judo Federation and United States Judo Incorporated.  He served as president of International Yudanshakai in 1988. 

 He was active in the Emmett Presbyterian Church and had served as an elder.  Leonard was vice president of Pratt Ranch, Inc. and on the board of directors.  He taught school for 26 years in Emmett and 12 years in Huntington, Oregon. To supplement a teacher’s salary the educator was a logger.  He helped clean the forest.  Leonard cut, sold and delivered firewood.   At Christmas time he sold Christmas trees. 

 He is survived by his wife, Esther, of 53 years; children, Kenneth L. Pratt II (Lanette) of Olympia, WA., Katherine Marie Cassel (John) of Gresham, OR., Kristen Michele Treece (Kyle) of Spokane, WA., Kevin Leroy Pratt (Canis) of Central Point, OR.,  Keith Ludlow (Heather) of Cottage Grove, OR., William Burton and (Reimi) of Emmett; brother, David (Sharon) Pratt of Sweet; sister, Sandra (Jim) Amos of Oregon City, OR.; 2 sisters-in-law Ruth McDougall of Brier, WA., and Mary Dee Goettsche of Idaho Falls, ID.; numerous nieces and nephews, and 13 grandchildren. 

 He was preceded in death by his parents; his in-laws, Ruth and Julius Goettsche; 3 brothers-in-law, Mark McDougall, Jim and John Goettsche; 2 sisters-in-law Margaret Elgaaen and Donna Jensen.
